LPK is happy to announce that we have settled on a successor to our beloved Miss Bev — a Miss Tracey Heller, who promises to be an excellent addition to the LPK classroom and community. Tracey lives in western Howard County with her husband and three sons (ages 15, 12, and 10). Like Bev, Tracey is a former LPK mom; her youngest son, Will, is an LPK alumnus.
Indeed, it was Tracey’s time as an LPK parent that launched a second career for her, into preschool education. Prior to starting her family, Tracey earned a Bachelors in Sociology and a Masters in Survey Methodology and worked for a research firm in Rockville. But when her son Will started kindergarten, Tracey went to work for the Howard County Recreation and Parks “My First School” pre-school program. She enjoyed the job so much that she took on a 90-hour certification in Early Childhood Education at Howard Community College. From there, Tracey spent two years as the lead teacher of the two-year-old class at Kids Comes First in Ijamsville.
Tracey is active in the local community. For the past seven years she’s taught second-grade religious education at St. Michael’s Church. She has served as PTA president at Lisbon Elementary School (as well as Fundraising Chair – even organizing the PTA’s annual Bingo!) and she is currently PTSA president at Glenwood Middle School.
Tracey says she is thrilled to return home to LPK as its assistant teacher. She looks forward to meeting, playing, and learning with our children in the fall!
